South Carolina Academy of Sciences - .The objective of the South Carolina Academy of Science (SCAS) is to promote the advancement and constructive use of science in South Carolina. The Academy does this by: (a) encouraging the association of scientifically oriented people to bring their talents to bear usefully on public policy, (b) providing means to facilitate the work of scientists and to promote cooperation among them, (c) improving the teaching and appreciation of science in schools at all levels, and (d) working to improve the public understanding and appreciation of science.
South Carolina Space Grant Consortium - The South Carolina Space Grant Consortium was formed in 1991, designated as a “Capability Enhancement” state. Under the NASA mandate for “Capability Enhancement” states, the SCSGC works to increase the State’s aerospace related research infrastructure. The SCSGC members devise programs to encourage researchers and students to conduct aerospace related research and to address the science education pipeline problem.
